Hello!
About 6 months ago, I was laid off from my day job building websites. I spent a lot of that time building a portfolio and applying to countless jobs. At a certain point it feels kind of goofy to keep applying to jobs that I am not even very interested in – and still getting rejected.
For years I've been spending a lot of time woodworking. I've made a ton of furniture for my house, and I even built myself a deck(!) last summer. Woodworking has always been something that I knew I could get even more into if I had the time to dedicate to it.
A couple of years ago I created Afternoon Furniture as a way to share and talk about the stuff I've been building (#011). Looking back at it now, I think the name “furniture” was limiting what was possible.
Reframing it as designing + building opens myself up to really any kind of project that people could need help with. Looking back through everything I've made got me really excited about the idea of spending even more time building stuff.
Also, I'm running out of room in my own house for furniture, so I need to start expanding somewhere 😄
If you're in the Twin Cities area and have an idea for a project, I'd love to help!
👋
Paul
